From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
